It is our aim
to help you to use Project Management tools and techniques
to their best advantage by providing the right level of detail
for your business.
All project methodologies use a framework
which divides work into manageable sections, or phases. We
recommend starting with 5 major phases: Opportunity;
Definition; Planning; Execution and Closure, which
provide key decision points in the process where approval
to continue is required.
The 5 Phases:
-
Opportunity: An
initial business case is developed providing a cost/benefit
analysis. An approval is gained to proceed and a priority
is then assigned against other business requirements.
-
Definition: The
business case is scoped out with respect to constraints
and assumptions, together with assigning the method of
approach and proposing resource requirements. This allows
a more accurate costing and schedule to be prepared, which
must be reviewed against current business commitments
and approval provided to proceed.
-
Planning:
The tasks are qualitatively and quantitatively specified
and scheduled in detail. This minimises
the impact to operational requirements, ensuring efficiency
of approach and allows the most accurate assignment of
resources and costs providing another decision point for
comparison with current requirements.
-
Execution:
The plan is now being implemented. This is where the project
uses the maximum resources and requires a continuous level
of monitoring and control to ensure that the business
advantage is obtained on time and on budget.
-
Closure:
Ensures that the work completed meets with customer requirements;
that operational changes are institutionalised, and that
there is a learning process so that future projects can
be improved.
All Programme and Project Management (PPM)
is based on the above principles and these will be developed
accordingly depending on the nature of the work and its complexity.
It is also important that these phases are completed as quickly
and efficiently as possible and there are many techniques
involved within Project Management to allow this to happen......
......We can help
manage tasks and resources. We can help set up systems
and procedures. We can help institutionalise processes
and provide organisational structures focussed on continuous
improvement ideals. .....all we ask is that you provide
the climate for change and the willingness to succeed.
